I have been using the LowePro ProTactic 450AW Camera Backpack for a couple of weeks now and must say I am pretty pleased. It’s able to hold all the gear I need and it’s versatile as well. Here’s a shot of the backpack, the outside looks robust and durable. The backpack’s outside features a design called SlipLock™ a compatible strap system that’s used to create limitless set-ups. LowePro has numerous accessories which can be used with the strap system.
Get versatile with five modular accessories like a water bottle pouch, accessory case, tripod cup and two cinch straps which are all SlipLock-compatible and included with backpack.
Another good feature is the ProTactic ActivZone System technology to deliver targeted support at shoulder blades, lumbar and waist for comfort on the move.
The backpack makes use of YKK zippers, these are easy to use and durable.
The backpack has two exterior pockets, these are easy to access and handy for quick use. I use them to store my business cards, markers, pens and keys etc.
Another feature is that the backpack has two quick- grab openings. Both for iether left or right handed users, this is a very accessible way to quickly grab your camera without having to take off the backpack.
On top of the backpack is a the turret-loading opening, which is can be used to store your camera at the top of the backpack. In the hardened top there is also an additional storage area which is not really big but offers enough space for example, wallet, passport or just some snacks for the road.
Inside the backpack, the layout is fully customizable according to your own wishes using the included multiple dividers that are also included. A minus point is that the included dividers are too narrow, more about this in the video review that can be found at the bottom of this review.
A nice bonus is the fact that the backpack offers space in the back flap for a laptop, in my case a 13″ inch Macbook Pro. The back of this laptop sleeve is padded with soft foam, the front however is not. I like the fact that the laptop is simply rests in the sleeve against the back and not like other bags on the outside. This way it offers more protection during traveling. But this sleeve is also usable for other products such as tablets and notepads (do people still write?).
The back of the backpack has (besides a sleeve compartment) also three smaller sections that can be used for a variety of small products. I personally use them for my Kensington lock, batteries, extra business cards and other small accessories.
So much for a small review of the Lowepro ProTactic 450 AW Camera Backpack.
