In the action-thriller Public Enemies, acclaimed filmmaker Michael Mann directs Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and Academy Award® winner Marion Cotillard in the incredible and true story of legendary Depression-era bank robber John Dillinger (Depp)the charismatic bank robber whose lightning raids made him the number one target of J. Edgar Hoovers fledgling FBI and its top agent, Melvin Purvis (Bale), and a folk hero to much of the downtrodden public.

No one could stop Dillinger. No jail could hold him. His charm and audacious jailbreaks endeared him to almost everyonefrom his girlfriend Billie Frechette (Cotillard) to an American public who had no sympathy for the banks that had plunged the country into the Depression.

But while the adventures of Dillinger’s ganglater including the sociopathic Baby Face Nelson (Stephen Graham)thrilled many, Hoover (Billy Crudup) hit on the idea of exploiting the outlaw’s capture as a way to elevate his Bureau of Investigation into the national police force that became the FBI. He made Dillinger America’s first Public Enemy Number One. Hoover sent in Purvis, the dashing “Clark Gable of the FBI”.

However, Dillinger and his gang outwitted and outgunned Purvis’ men in wild chases and shootouts. Only after importing a crew of Western ex-lawmen (newly baptized as agents) who were real gunfighters and orchestrating epic betrayals from the infamous “Lady in Red” to the Chicago crime boss Frank Nittiwere Purvis and the FBI able to close in on Dillinger.

Vin Diesel and Paul Walker reteam for the ultimate chapter of the franchise built on speed Fast & Furious. When a crime brings them back to L.A., fugitive ex-con Dom Toretto (Diesel) reignites his feud with agent Brian O’Conner (Walker). But as they are forced to confront a shared enemy, Dom and Brian must give in to an uncertain new trust if they hope to outmaneuver him.

Two time Oscar-winning visual effects artist Hoyt Yeatman makes his feature directorial debut with this Jerry Bruckheimer-produced family film following a group of highly trained guinea pigs on their mission to prevent an evil billionaire from taking over the world. Beginning in the Civil War – when carrier pigeons delivered messages from the front lines – the American government has been covertly training animals to work in espionage.

The latest government program is a clandestine espionage team known as G-Force, which includes a team of ultra-intelligent guinea pigs who share 98.7% of their DNA with humans. Comprised of unpredictable weapons expert Blaster (voice of Tracy Morgan), alluring martial arts expert Juarez (voice of Penelope Cruz), stealthy reconnaissance expert Mooch, and a starnosed mole named Speckles (voice of Nicolas Cage) who specializes in computers, this crack team of agents is fronted by heroic squad leader Darwin (voice of Sam Rockwell). When a deranged billionaire hatches a plan to control the entire planet through common household appliances, the G-Force leaps into action on a mission to ensure that he does not succeed.

When CIA operative Roger Ferris (DiCaprio) uncovers evidence indicating that a major terrorist leader may be operating out of Jordan, he enlists the aid of CIA veteran Ed Hoffman (Russell Crowe) in infiltrating the elusive saboteur’s vast underground network. During the course of his dangerous mission, Ferris gradually comes to question how much he can trust his presumed allies — who include not just Hoffman, but the outwardly helpful head of Jordanian intelligence as well.

Adam Sandler has had his fair share of good comedies over the years such as Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy and Punch-Drunk Love, for which he received a Golden Globe nomination for his role, but his latest flick, Bedtime Stories, just doesn’t cut it. In the film, Sandler is Skeeter Bronson, a hotel attendant who’s life is about to be changed forever when the bedtime stories he tells his niece and nephew magically come true. Bronson tries to take advantage of this rare occurrence by incorporating his own wishes into the stories, but when his life turns upside down, he comes to realize that it is the children who dictate how the stories unfold.

Disney’s Bedtime Stories stars Adam Sandler (Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy), Courteney Cox (Ace Ventura: Pet Detective), Keri Russell (August Rush, the hit TV series Felicity), and Guy Pearce (L.A. Confidential, Memento).

Disney’s Bedtime Stories is now playing in theatres everywhere. For those that want to check out the trailer here it is:

My thoughts:

The film is filled with slapstick comedy that gets really old very quickly. It has nothing new to offer us in the laughter department. It’s a decent film for children, however for the older and wiser, this family comedy will have you sleeping by the end of it with its predictable storyline. Bedtime Stories is not something worth paying the $25+ family outing to the cinemas although it would make a good DVD rental to watch with the kids as they are getting ready for bed, but just don’t fall asleep before they do! If you are looking for an Adam Sandler comedy, I would highly recommend watching some of his earlier flicks, excluding You Don’t Mess With The Zohan, though some might not be appropriate for the kids.

Academy Award winners Robert De Niro (Raging Bull) and Al Pacino (Scent of a Woman) star as a pair of veteran New York City police detectives on the trail of a vigilante serial killer in the adrenaline fueled psychological thriller Righteous Kill, directed by Jon Avnet (Red Corner, Fried Green Tomatoes) and written by Russell Gewirtz (Inside Man). The cast also features hip-hop superstar Curtis Jackson (Get Rich or Die Tryin’).

After 30 years as partners in the pressure cooker environment of the NYPD, highly decorated Detectives David Fisk and Thomas Cowan should be ready for retirement, but aren’t. Before they can hang up their badges, they are called in to investigate the murder of a notorious pimp, which appears to have ties to a case they solved years before.

Like the original murder, the victim is a suspected criminal whose body is found accompanied by a four line poem justifying the killing. When additional crimes take place, it becomes clear the detectives are looking for a serial killer, one who targets criminals that have fallen through the cracks of the judicial system. His mission is to do what the cops can’t do on their own-take the culprits off the streets for good. The similarities between the recent killings and their earlier case raise a nagging question: Did they put the wrong man behind bars?

The following is the trailer from the film:

My thoughts:

The story is very well put together just when you think you know whats up the story changes. It not a new movie but I can surely recommend you to check it out!
